Info you will need about the Vehicle

You will need a vehicle registration number from either of these documents:

A recent reminder (V11) or ‘last chance’ warning letter from DVLA.

Your vehicle logbook (V5C – it must be in your name).

Or the green ‘new keeper’ slips from a logbook if you’ve just bought the vehicle.

When you need to SORN a vehicle

You are required to make a SORN in any of the following situations:

• Your vehicle is untaxed.
• Your vehicle is uninsured, even temporarily (for example, due to a delay in renewing your policy).
• You plan to dismantle the vehicle for parts before scrapping it.
• You purchase or receive a vehicle and intend to keep it off the road.
